The Games will be the largest ever, with more than 11,000 of the world’s best athletes competing in 36 Olympic sports and 23 Paralympic sports, across more than 350 events. This historic event also marks the first time the Paralympic Games are being held in Los Angeles. Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Summer Games

Los Angeles will welcome the Summer Olympic Games for the third time in 2028, following its historic turns hosting in 1932 and 1984. 36 Olympic and 23 Paralympic sports will take place in 24 site zones at the LA28 Games. The grandiose Opening Ceremony is slated for July 14, 2028, with closing events ending on July 30, 2028.

The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will feature the introduction of several brand-new sports near the return of classic events, combining deep-rooted American culture with modern international sporting trends.

Returning sports include:

  • Cricket (first time since 1900)
  • Lacrosse (first time since 1948)
  • Baseball and Softball (returning from Tokyo 2020)

When will tickets for the Olympic Games go on sale to the public?

Following a tremendously successful initial ticket launch in April 2026, LA28 has announced that Drop 2—the next public Olympic ticket on-sale window—will run from August 10 to August 20, 2026.  Access to tickets is through a random ticket draw system, with registration for the Drop 2 draw open until July 22, 2026.

How much will it cost to get tickets to the Olympics in LA28?

LA28 is also dedicated to keeping the Games affordable with more than 1 million tickets at a flat $28 primary fee. About half of all Olympic tickets for the public are priced below $200. Prices will vary by sport, level of competition and seating level. Premium tickets are more expensive for big events.

Local residents will receive first crack at tickets for Summer Games LA 28?

Southern California and Oklahoma residents received priority access during the dedicated LA and OKC Locals Presale in early April 2026, which successfully placed half a million $28 tickets directly into local communities. For current drops, fans who register by the July 22 deadline can also check eligibility for an exclusive Visa Presale Ticket Draw running from July 29–31, 2026, as Visa is the payment method of the Games.
